Dist: Universal Music Canada
Van Halen remains one of the most important and influential bands of all time. Formed in Los Angeles in 1974, the band quickly won a loyal hometown fan base with their electrifying live shows. From the moment they released their self-titled 1978 debut album, Van Halen shook the foundations of rock, thanks largely to Roth’s peerless showmanship, Eddie Van Halen’s revolutionary guitar virtuosity and their songwriting abilities. It changed rock music forever.
A Different Kind of Truth is the 12th studio album by American hard rock band Van Halen. It is the band’s first album of completely new material since 1998’s Van Halen III, as well as the first since 1984’s 1984 to feature David Lee Roth on lead vocals, and the first to feature Wolfgang Van Halen on bass guitar.

Following in the footsteps of his critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated Up On The Ridge album, Dierks Bentley releases his sixth studio album of new music, Home. The inspiring video for the upcoming album’s anthemic title single, “Home,” features iconic images of both the history and humanity of America. “My home is in Nashville with my family, my home is on the road with our fans and my home is definitely in country music,” said Dierks. “This album is more than a year’s worth of writing, recording and testing out material on the road in front of our hard core fans. The end result is an album that runs through all the types of country songs and sounds I enjoy singing and playing. I can’t wait to share it with the fans!”

Dist: Sony Music Canada
Scars and Stories was recorded at the legendary Blackbird Studios in Nashville. The Fray was able to hone their sound with the help of producer Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Neil Young). On the new recording, the band transforms their real life experiences into a collection of songs that are reflective, but still maintain a pop sensibility. The making of Scars and Stories fostered the most evolution the band has ever experienced, both lyrically and musically.
PET SHOP BOYS
Format
www.petshopboys.co.uk
Dist: EMI Music Canada
The UK’s most successful duo of all time need no introduction – The Pet Shop Boys’ 12 UK Top 10 albums (with 7 certified platinum and total sales over 2.5 million records) and their 40 UK Top 20 singles (with 5.4 million sold in the UK alone) simply speak for themselves.
Their mountain of hit singles also contain a perhaps less well-known but equally exquisite collection of b-sides and bonus tracks. To celebrate this prolific song-writing and recording, an incredible 38 b-sides and bonus tracks have now been collected together from singles released between 1996 to 2009, to create ‘Format’. Available as a 2CD in a lift-off lid box, all tracks on ‘Format’ have been remastered and the box booklet features an interview with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe by Jon Savage (author of ‘England’s Dreaming’ and ‘Teenage’).
BAHAMAS
Barchords
www.bahamasmusic.net
Dist: Universal Music Canada
Barchords is the follow-up to Bahamas’ celebrated debut Pink Strat (2009), which received nominations for both a JUNO Award and the 2010 Polaris Music Prize. Much like its predecessor, the 12 songs on Barchords defy simple categorization. Jurvanen’s vocal delivery and masterful playing create a distinctive sound that is both delicate and intense. His soulful folk features sparse arrangements where the space is as powerful as the performance. Jurvanen is what Esquire calls “a young master of restraint and subtlety.” While incorporating the understated blues of the opening track “Lost In The Light” to the pop-infused “Caught Me Thinkin” (which has quickly become a live show favourite,) to the classic standard feel of “Time and Time Again,” Jurvanen always maintains a style all his own.

DR. DOG
Be The Void
www.drdogmusic.com
Dist: F.A.B.
Beloved Philadelphia band Dr. Dog are poised to release a staggering burst of vital rock ‘n’ roll with their new record Be The Void. The album is the raucous follow up to the group’s critically lauded Shame, Shame. Having evolved from a band whose primary creative outlet was the album-making process into one that favored the energy of their live performances, Dr. Dog knew they wanted to document the new dynamic they had developed on the road. Tracking live in the studio and turning up the guitars, the band has delivered a truly great cathartic rock ‘n’ roll album played with near reckless abandon and passion, blending their early punk-infused energy with the songwriting craft that made Fate and Shame, Shame fan favorites.
