SNOW PATROL
Fallen Empires
www.snowpatrol.com
Dist: Universal Music Canada

Snow Patrol returns with their 6th studio album “Fallen Empires”. Best known for slow building hits like “Run” & “Chasing Cars,” the Glasgow-based group teamed with producer Jackknife Lee after recording in California starting in late 2010. Guests on the album include R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, folk rock singer Lissie, and Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen who’s featured on the first single “Called Out In The Dark.”
“We wanted to make a massively ambitious record,” says singer Gary Lightbody in a release, “a record unlike anything we’ve made before”. We started writing songs that were more playful, even rawer then before – we were brave enough to do what we wanted as a band, rather then what convention dictated to us”.
Deluxe Version includes DVD with 10 songs live at the Royal Albert Hall!

THE LITTLE WILLIES
For the Good Times

Dist: EMI Music Canada

Over the past 10 years, The Little Willies—Lee Alexander (bass), Jim Campilongo (guitar), Norah Jones (piano, vocals), Richard Julian (guitar, vocals), and Dan Rieser (drums)—have periodically gathered to make music for fun, playing their favorite country songs. With their second album, For the Good Times, The Little Willies cut songs by Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Dolly Parton. The results demonstrate the joy they take, and commitment they make, to the project.
The selections include some surprising choices, like the trucker classic “Diesel Smoke, Dangerous Curves” and “Foul Owl on the Prowl,” from the soundtrack to In the Heat of the Night. Alongside the more obscure songs, though, For the Good Times also includes some of the best-known songs in the history of country music, like Parton’s “Jolene” and the title track, written by Kristofferson and made famous by such singers as Ray Price and Al Green. “

ETTA JAMES
The Dreamer

Dist: Universal Music Canada

Etta James releases her new album ‘The Dreamer’ through Verve forecast. This monumental release not only marks her first album in five years, but will also be her final studio album before she retires, capping off an incredible fifty-year recording career. The album features her one-of-a-kind soulful renditions of Otis Redding’s Cigarettes & Coffee, Bobby Blues Bland’s Dreamer and Ray Charles’ In the Evening.
The great Etta James has been a musical force and a major hitmaker since the ‘50s with numerous accolades, including six Grammy Awards © including the Lifetime Achievement Award, Best Jazz Vocal Performance and two Hall of Fame Awards. Throughout her career, James created a remarkably deep and diverse catalogue of R&B, blues, soul, pop and jazz recordings. James crossed all musical genres and styles, and has been cited as a major influence by a wide range of singers from Janis Joplin and Irma Thomas to Christina Aguilera and Adele.

NIGHTWISH
Imaginaerum

Nightwish, one of the pioneers of Symphonic Metal, return with their 7th studio album. The band returns after their highly successful release, Dark Passion Play marketing the second album with new singer Anette Olzon. The album is a concept album telling the story of an old composer on his deathbed, reminiscing of his youth. The album was produced alongside the movie of the same name, directed by Stobe Harju, who previously directed Nightwish’s “The Islander” music video, and the album and the film share the same themes and general story.

THE MACCABEES
Given To The Wild

www.themaccabees.co.uk
Dist: Universal Music Canada

The five piece from London spent two years writing and recording the follow-up to 2009’s critically-lauded ‘Wall Of Arms’. Having previously written as a collective, ‘Given To The Wild’ saw the band explore a new approach to songwriting. Avoiding the studio, each member retreated to their South London homes to develop ideas individually. Once these sketched ideas began to take form, the band took them into their new home – a shambolic rehearsal space and recording studio near them that they discovered had been previously christened ‘The Drugstore’ by its former owners Jesus and Mary Chain. From here the songs evolved into the thirteen tracks that would make up ‘Given To The Wild’, an epic and beguiling masterpiece of distorted pop, psychedelia and soulful guitar wig outs.
