FEIST
Metals

FEIST returns with her highly anticipated new album, METALS. It’s the follow-up to her 2007 breakout The Reminder, which earned her four Grammy nominations, six Juno wins and the opportunity to teach Muppets to count on Sesame Street. Recorded in Big Sur, California and co-produced by longtime collaborators Chilly Gonzales and Mocky. METALS was written over three autumn months in 2010 in a tiny garage behind her house, after a year away from the spotlight. The songs range from low rumbling and moody ambiences to brutal and intense, as if it sonically maps the fog rolling in and the resulting cracking of thunder. Like The Reminder, this album is astoundingly intimate, yet often exuberant; rife with transcendent and unforgettable pop gems.
LIGHTS
Siberia

When electro-rock sensation Lights first hit the music scene in 2008, she was just a songwriter with a synth and a dream. Her name may have been pluralized but Lights Poxleitner was a one-woman show who played and programmed her own instruments and sang her own lyrics. This admirable self-reliance is rare in pop but after her 2008 self-titled debut EP and gold-selling full-length follow-up The Listening, Lights was ready to open herself up to collaborations on her unexpectedly experimental album Siberia. And by choosing such leftfield collaborators as live electronic outfit Holy Fuck and rising rapper Shad, she also opened up her sound. Lyrically, the album is light years from her last, which was written when the singer, who spent much of her childhood travelling to places like the Philippines and Jamaica with her missionary parents, had left the nest and landed in Toronto. “A lot of those songs came from a sad but hopeful place. I was alone and pondering a lot. I’m a lot more aware of the person I am now and each of these songs is about an experience I’ve gone through,” she says. “This record came from a very happy place.”
NEW FOUND GLORY
Radiosurgery
www.newfoundglory.com
Dist: F.A.B.
New Found Glory vocalist Jordan Pundik may sing “I’m amazed that we’ve made it this far” on the band’s new full-length album Radiosurgery, but that shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has followed the band’s career trajectory. For the past fourteen years the Coral Spring, Florida, pop-punk act New Found Glory have transcended trends and gimmicks by writing songs from the heart that listeners of all ages can relate, including three gold records under their belts . The band’s latest studio album Radiosurgery sees New Found Glory continuing that journey while simultaneously paying homage to the bands that influenced them to pick up instruments as teenagers. From the Green Day-influenced opener “Radiosurgery” to melodic, upbeat anthems like “Ready, Aim, Fire!” the songs on Radiosurgery sound undeniably like New Found Glory but also have a timeless pop-punk feel that will invariably appeal to both veteran and new fans.
WE WERE PROMISED JETPACKS
In The Pit Of The Stomach

Dist: Outside
The approach to recording was markedly different this time around, “We recorded the debut album in 8 days with one short tour under our belts – this time around we spent a full three weeks in the studio recording with [live sound engineer] Andrew Bush and made an album that both captured the sound of our live show and that is strong start to finish.” Peter Katis (Frightened Rabbit, The National) was also on hand for mixing and additional production duties. Armed with the confidence built from their time on the road and firm ideas as to how the new record should sound, ‘In The Pit Of The Stomach’ is emphatically a sustained piece of work full of fiery, muscular and hugely atmospheric epics like (lead single) ‘Medicine’, ‘Picture Of Heath’ and ‘Human Error’ – and an album that impresses with the sheer scale of it’s ambition.
MUTEMATH
Odd Soul

Dist: Warner Music Canada
Odd Soul came together over the course of six months, during which the members of Mutemath -Paul Meany (vocals/keyboards), Roy Mitchell-Cardenas (bass/guitar), and Darren King (drums) -locked themselves down at Meany’s home studio in New Orleans and didn’t emerge until they were ready to play it for others. “The idea of complete isolation was the only thing that appealed to us. No camera guys, no producers, no engineers, no record label people, no management. No one would hear or comment on what we were doing until we were done,” Meany says. “We didn’t want to make blurry music. We set out to record something that was unapologetically us.”

For an entertainer with a string of huge hits the likes of “If You’re Going Through Hell,” “Watching You” and “These Are My People,” it is quite the feat to say that the current single, “Take A Back Road” is Rodney Atkins’ most successful single to date. Such is the case indicating that Rodney is set to propel to all new heights with the brand new album of the same title. Take A Back Road features additional stand out tracks including, “Cabin In The Woods,” “The Corner” and “She’s A Girl.”

Mayday Parade’s new self-titled album marks a return to the band’s songwriting roots. The entire album was self-written in a collaborative effort by the five band mates. This 12-song collection transpired through careful introspection and it echoes the musicians’ maturation over the two years since their second album, Anywhere But Here. Because the band chose to pen each of the songs themselves, this album is perhaps their most personal to date, complete with relatable lyrics and their undeniable charm. Mayday Parade first burst onto the scene with their 2007 debut A Lesson in Romantics which received immense praise from critics and fans alike. The band has not slowed down since.

Now the Misfits return with their long awaited, first full-length release of all-new, original material in nearly a decade!
