The album was recorded at both DeLonge’s studio in San Diego and in Los Angeles by Hoppus and Barker. Recording in separate studios was DeLonge’s idea, and ideas were exchanged via e-mail. Various engineers met up in person to trade files on hard drives. In June and July 2010, the band spent time at their rehearsal spot, writing and recording new songs. The band intended to wrap up touring by September, and stay in the studio for the rest of the year until the album was finished. In early 2011, Barker left for a tour in support of the release of his solo album. Geffen Records gave the band a July 31 deadline for the record amid concerns about the volatility of the band, and explained there would be penalties if the album was not turned it on time. DeLonge joked that, “We’ll probably actually drive it to the (Geffen) president’s house at two in the morning and hand it through his bedroom window at the last possible minute.”

Says LeAnn, “This album was born out of the memories of when I first fell in love with country music and in reflecting, I realized that almost all of my favourite country songs from back then were sung by men. For Wilco, the release on September 27th of The Whole Love represents more than just the eighth studio album from this innovative Chicago rock band. It signifies yet another new chapter in the band’s constantly evolving, enduring and storied career. The Whole Love is a veritable sonic stew, showcasing Wilco’s far-reaching musical prowess (multiple guitars, keyboards, synthesizers and percussion plus Mellotron, strings, loops and more) perfectly accompanying Jeff Tweedy’s provocative and insightful lyrics. 2 LP . MATTHEW SWEET
Modern Art
www.matthewsweet.com
Dist: F.A.B.
Throughout a career that stretches back to the mid-80s, MATTHEW SWEET has never followed trends, though his landmark 1991 album ‘Girlfriend’ was responsible for starting one: in fact, many critics note that most power pop records made during the 90s owe a tremendous debt to Sweet. Two decades after the release of that iconic album, Sweet has once again swung for the fences – and connected – with the boldly experimental, yet deeply personal ‘Modern Art’. Defiantly unorthodox, but often playfully so, ‘Modern Art’ features 12 new compositions of Sweet’s trademark wistful, yearning pop that recall some of Sweet’s touchstones: the Beatles, Beach Boys and Big Star. ‘Modern Art’’s inventiveness extends to its final stages: mastering engineer Glenn Schick employed his unique “triple analog” process, whereby the masters for the album were cut to virgin lacquer acetates and meticulously transferred back to digital, resulting in a rich, full-bodied, “vinyl” sound. Vinyl edition boasts one bonus track.
DARYL HALL
Laughing Down Crying

Hall was joined in the studio by co-producers Greg Bieck (Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin) and Paul Pesco on the making of this album. Daryl Hall is the co-founder and lead singer of the “rock and soul” duo Daryl Hall and John Oates. With such an incredible legacy behind him and an exciting platform from which to move forward, the future is limitless for Daryl Hall. Laughing Down Crying will surely hit home with all his loyal fans who have been waiting over a decade for his next solo effort.

Fuh Yeah
Dist: Sony Music Canada
The operative word for Kidstreet is fun, but with a whole lot going on underneath the party vibes. Consisting of two brothers and a sister, the gifted young family create a synthesis of beats, moods, tempos and surprises – you could call it groovy headphone music. Signed to Nettwerk records, home to dozens of divergent acts, Kidstreet promises to be more than just a dance band, as they showcase their diversity with their debut album Fuh Yeah.
JASON DERULO
Future History
www.jasonderulo.com
Dist: Warner Music Canada
Multi-platinum singer and songwriter Jason Derulo returns with his sophomore album Future History, which finds him moving seamlessly from ultra-sexy urban dance tracks to poppy love songs, once again offering up a unique genre-blurring blend of varied sounds deeply rooted in pop. “It Girl,” the second single off Future History follows on the heels of the platinum-selling “Don’t Wanna Go Home,” a multi-format radio hit that has spent most of the summer as one of the Top 10 most played songs in Canada.
MARIA MULDAUR
Steady Love
www.mariamuldaur.com
Dist: Warner Music Canada
With Steady Love Maria Muldaur returns to her much beloved New Orleans, the place she calls her “musical and spiritual home,” and collaborates with her favorite Crescent City musicians to produce a high energy album of blues & swamp funk, full of soul & grit, bad to the bone, and played with reckless abandon. The album features a compelling mix of contemporary blues tunes written by outstanding Blues/Americana artists like Greg Brown, Elvin Bishop, Bobby Charles, Stephen Bruton, Rick Vito, and Percy Mayfield. Supporting Maria on all of these tunes is a core unit of A-list New Orleans funk veterans, all led by keyboard wizard and funkmeister David Torkanowsky. Guitarist Shane Theriot, bassist Johnny Allen (the subdudes), and drummer Kenny Blevins all turn in inspired, high octane performances.

The Hunter
www.mastodonrocks.com
Dist: Warner Music Canada
The Hunter, the follow-up to 2009’s critically embraced Crack The Skye, was recorded in the band’s hometown of Atlanta as well as in Los Angeles with producer Mike Elizondo. As with all of their albums, Mastodon decided to take a completely different tack and musical approach to the music on this album. The band feels confident that fans will be excited and fulfilled by what they will hear.
SWITCHFOOT
Vice Verses
www.switchfoot.com
Dist: Warner Music Canada
With its play on words, Vice Verses, the title of Switchfoot’s new album, coherently suggests the album’s theme: everything has two sides. If 2009’s Hello Hurricane suggested a new chapter in the musical book that is Switchfoot, consider Vice Verses to be a sequel of sorts. Songs like “Afterlife” and “The War Inside” take the harder-edged approach of Hello Hurricane a step further, creating what Billboard has called “powerful, anthemic rockers…like an amalgamation of U2′s „Achtung Baby,’ Linkin Park.” Overall, Vice Verses is a more eclectic collection than its predecessor with quiet gems like “Souvenirs” and the title track butting up against the infectious “The Original,” reminiscent of Foo Fighters, and the biting, largely spoken-word “Selling the News.”
WILL HOGE
Number Seven
www.willhoge.com
Dist: Warner Music Canada
Critically-acclaimed Nashville singer/songwriter Will Hoge’s returns with his seventh studio album, aptly titled Number Seven.
