Matt Epp and the Amorian Assembly

Release New Album

At Dawn, April 12th, 2011

Vancouver, BC – January 24, 2011 – Winnipeg- born Matt Epp has several albums under his belt, but nothing quite like album #5. At Dawn is a superb collection of new songs created by Matt and his Amorian Assembly, a trans-national band of co-conspirators who together breathe lusty life into the vessels that are songs soon to set sail on April 12th, 2011.

At Dawn was recorded live off the floor in Winnipeg, with additional tracking done in Granada, Spain and around Canada. The band and guests assembled to make At Dawn is an eclectic crew of sonic sailors, many of whom Matt met and played during his time in Spain in 2009. These include, pianist Raul Bernal, Antonio Lomas (the percussionist for the famed Spanish pop/rock group, Lori Meyers) and Joel Couture on bass. He is also joined by Winnipeg guitarist Brent Warren, who worked beside Epp on his 2009 release Safe Or Free.

Matt also enlisted the talents of several of his musical pals – Toronto’s Bahamas on the opening track (Don’t Let The Sun Go Down) and Halifax chanteuse Rose Cousins on Never Have I Loved Like This. Lead singers Noni and Alejandro of Lori Meyers, helped out with Beach Boys-esque backing vocals on New Sunglasses, and The Weber Brothers, the current manifestation of the legendary Ronnie Hawkins’ Hawks, joined in on Come To My House. Yes…it’s a diverse crew but the voyage to Amoria requires many different talents.

And where is this place “Amoria” that Matt speaks of so often on the album? Despite his reference to Amoria being an “empire”, it is not a physical place, rather an idea he so whole-heartedly embraces, that by the end of your first listen, you too will be part of it. As Matt states, “Love sits on the throne in Amoria… it serves to bring positive change, not by avoiding conflict, but by inspiring its citizens to live with joy and humanity.”

Now the album is about to set sail on its voyage. Tours to Europe and across Canada are in the works. Matt Epp is thrilled to be at the helm of this new Amorian adventure. Don’t miss your chance to hear these new tracks live. Dates soon to be announced.
