Griffin has paired a powerful FM transmitter with an intuitive interface, so playing your iPhone or iPod on any FM radio (car or home stereo, boombox, whatever) is super easy.

Obviously, you’ll probably enjoy this unit more if you don’t live in a concrete jungle, but the fact that reception only got a little wonky when we were directly beneath Toronto’s CN Tower (basically a big-ass Antenna) was easy to get past. Especially since this unit was designed to be unconstrained by cables and includes great touch and feel controls that let you play, pause, skip forward and skip back with a press of a button.

Just plug iTrip into the dock connector, press the SmartScan™ button and you’re set. SmartScan finds the clearest frequency to play your music through your car or home stereo speakers without hassles or wires. And Griffin’s SmartSound™ button adjusts signal strength for the clearest sound possible. Use iTrip’s three user-programmable presets to remember your favorite frequencies and recall them with one press of a button.

Final word. We love the fact that there’s a pass-thru connector so you can charge your iPod or iPhone while playing, using a USB Micro-B cable (available separately), we just wish one was included.
